Traveling is stressful enough, and arranging for someone to care for your pet while you are away does not have to add to your stress. At Tierrasanta Veterinary Hospital, our primary focus is the comfort, safety, and health of your pet. If pet sitting is not an option while you're away, our pet boarding professionals are ready to assist you.

Preparing Your Cat for Boarding: What to Bring

Being in a new environment can be stressful, but there are ways to prepare your pet. Bringing your cat’s favorite blanket and a toy are great ways to help them feel at home. Even one of your shirts can be a comfort to them as it will smell like you.

Make sure to bring enough food for the duration of your pet’s stay. A dietary change can be rough on a cat’s stomach, especially if they are feeling anxious. As an extra measure, you can label the food bag with your last name and your pet’s name to avoid confusion. If your cat is particular about their litter, you can bring some of that as well.

Cat Transportation: From Home to TVH

Carriers are the safest option for you and your pet. You can find a list of CPS certified carriers here: Center for Pet Safety. If your cat gets an upset stomach, investing in disposable potty mats may be in your best interest. Perhaps the most important thing is to simply drive cautiously and take your time when turning. We will take care of the rest when you arrive.
